Recently many girls have joined as cadets in the nautical sciences and marine engineering courses conducted by various institutes in India.
Given the situation prevailing onboard is it good for girls to choose this field?
I am not opposed to girls joining the merchant navy - but when compared to the navy where a lot of discipline is required and enforced, the merchant navy has very little such enforcements in the high seas for disciplinary issues.
When a average girl finds it difficult to work in an office/factory etc ashore, is it possible for them to work onboard ships?

It is great that girls have left no field unturned.
But since I know the prevailing situation and job profile on board I feel it is extremely difficult for girls to choose it as there career. Shipping jobs involve strenous and physical work and girls are not designed for such kind.

yes it is good for girls to join the navy. It doesnt matter if your a girl or a boy you can still join.

well mr iam also intersted to joinmerchant nevy.iam from pakistan in pakistan girls didnt join merchant neavy.why,i dont know,because they dont have any idea,thatwhat is merchant neavy,girls are joining today i heard,but in my country girls has join army and airforce,neavy not merchant neavy

yah there is a similar scope for girls in comparison to boys.
