Sometimes I wish I were a white male so I don't have constantly face the prevailing racism (people pulling eyes back yelling "ching chong"). What's worse is that I even have a bleaker future in the dating world, where we are considered unattractive due to stereotypes.

" I feel cheated out of a myriad of romantic experiences that could have been brought to fruition were I not an Asian male. Being an Asian male is like answering the first five questions on the GRE incorrectly; you're not totally screwed, but you have a lot of ground to make up.

The reason behind this is that historically Asians have been invisible in American media, with a few stereotypical exceptions. As a whole, Asian males have either been portrayed as overbearing, or more frequently the opposite: effeminate and obsequious to white (and therefore better) men. Asian females, on the other hand, have been depicted as servile and ready to please."

yes, White person here.
there arent enough asian positive role models on TV, not in the Uk either. Something needs to be done.

I like most people who I meet who are asian, am not swayed by stuff off the TV, I take each person as they come.

But it's not all that great to be a white male either. Nobody starts off equal, you need to fight your corner and you will win...eventually. Life's hard and unfair. Those in charge of these things arent just going to surrender power and influence they have, but you have the moral and ethical highground, so I for one am one your side.

There are some things about yourself that you can change and some things you can't. The first thing you need to work on changing is your attitude towards your own race. Who has made you feel less than? Is that person a good mirror by which to judge yourself? I realize that some races are held back in some geographical locations but not in others. Don't base your opinion of yourself on what you see in the media. Most white guys aren't Brad Pitt either. And with the current popularity of Japanese Anime you should be able to shine!

You just need to be the best person you can be. Are there other things about yourself that you don't like? Are those things something that you can change? Some people give up and take the easy way out by blaming their shortcomings on their "inferior" ethnic background. You have to fight and work for what you want. You may have to work a little harder to prove yourself than your average white guy, but do it.

Personally, I find Asian people, both male and female, attractive and highly intelligent. Make up your mind to make the most of what you have, and don't give up. Good luck to you.

No, it's not wrong to hate how racists treat you. But being white won't solve your problems. Whites have to deal with racist remarks too, and in society, it's wrong for them to complain about it. So they get it worse. Your Asian qualities are beneficial in the dating world if you look at it from a different angle. You're eliminating the ignorant people and making yourself available to more amiable women, women who would actually love you beyond your looks (if you do look unattractive). Don't put racists on equal ground as you. Their thoughts are inferior and most of the time, it's said it on a whim. Words like that are meaningless; take it lightly or just ignore it. The only racist thing you should be concerned about is affirmative action, because it harms Asians. That's racist!

no I think you hate being Asian because of the way that you are treated by people in society. But just remember this, you can't change your race or your looks unless you pay for plastic surgery. I would try and build my self-confidence by hanging out with people that will appreciate you being Asian and who aren't so closed minded. It seems that you have been effected by the racist negativity you encountered by all races. I get discriminated too. It is their problem that they hate you, and not yours. Try and do activities with other people that can make a positive effect on your life. If you dwell on the hatred and mistreatment you received from others, you will always be miserable. It seems you just want to be accepted and assimilate better. Find people that you have sometime in common with. Excel at what you do, and then you will attract the right crowd.

don't be so caught up in looks.. remember I have seen gorgeous women with ugly or average looking men. It seems that you need to be more confident. Women stay away from men that constantly play the victim of society.

Having Asian friends - Korean, Thai and Taiwanese - I hope you change your mind. I've always considered Asians to have the best (and most twisted!) sense of humor and you only believe an Asian female is servile is you haven't spent any time with one - they might be small, but they sure are loud!

Please rethink how you see yourself. You come from a culture that is so complex and ancient it is one to be admired and for the rest of us to learn from. True, the stereotypes - like all stereotypes - are foolish, but that says more about the people who believe them than it does about you.

I hope you can see your way to resolving this issue within yourself. I'm hoping that you will...

Being a white male is not everything the stereotypes make it out to be. I am one(39yo.) and have only had three GF's. Two of which ended badly(one lied, one cheated),one (to a Filipina) ended because of family reasons on her part(non-racial). Do yourself a big favor and except the way you were made. You can not change your race or looks.Hating your race will only cause you physical and emotional damage and problems later in life.

You may sometimes be bummed about yourself, but there's nothing you can do about it (don't pull a Michael Jackson), so be proud! Don't hate yourself or your ethnicity; make the most of it! There's someone out there for you, and you have the same opportunities as everyone else. Be the one to break the stereotype and show them that you are the best.

Don't hate who you are,I have known quite a few good looking asian guys. Think of Yul from the last Survivor (yummy) and I used to work with a chinese guy at my old place of employment and he was the nicest guy ever.

why are you limited in the romantic department? you know many cultures have diffefernt sexual issues and many ppl feel like they have to "catch up" later in life...it is not just an asian thing...
