Well, I would first sit them down and let them know there is something I need to discuss with them. Then I would start with something like , "lately...", and would follow-up with examples that have led me up to not want to be their friend anymore.

Then I would conclude that for these reasons "it is my decision that we part as friends".

Good luck!

*It is sad that you need to end your friendship. I'm sure that you have to come to the conclusion that you cannot make mends. Be gentle if you can so that it doesn't get ugly if it doesn't have to!

start off by thinking about why you DONT want to be there friend anymore. there must be SOME good qualities. Then think about their bad qualities.
After thinking about their weak points, try and figure out some ways on how to get them to stop doing that. If they are annoying and won't stop try and convey the message in a nice way.
If they get sad tell them, "That is EXACTLY how i felt when you where being annoying"(even if not true).
If this person just can't help it, try hanging out with other people and the next time they ask for you to come over say, "I am sorry but I am already booked with some other friends. Maybe next time."
Do this for some time until they will start getting the message and just quietly slip away

i would just try to avoid them and let them know by other ways instead of words. if that isnt good enough then just tell them. like "i dont think we should be friends anymore" or something. i mean if you mess up, whats the worst that can happen? She wouldnt like you anymore right?

I tried everything--ignoring them, being mean to them and nothing worked. (this was over the course of years) Finally I had to just tell them to leave me alone.

"I don't want you around me anymore. Goodbye!"
