1)Decide if the following point is on the line 2x-3y=6:(1,-2)

2)Complete the the ordered pair for the given line:4y=-3x+10;(2,?)

3)For the given equation,find the value of y: y=2x-5,if x=4

1) To verify, just put in the values and see what happens:
2(1) -3(-2) =?= 6
2 + 6 = 8 =/= 6 not equal

2) 4y = -3x + 10
y = -(3/4)x + 10
y = -(3/4)(2) + 10 = -3/2 + 10 = -3/2 + 20/2 = 17/2

3) y = 2x -5 = 2(4) - 5 = 8-5 = 3

1)2x-3y=6
Substitute x=1 & y=-2 from the ordered pair(1,-2)
2(1)-3(-2)=6
3+6=6
9=6(9 is not equal to 6)
So the ordered pair (1,-2) does not lie on the line 2x-3y=6

2) 4y=-3x+10, Substitute x=2 from the ordered pair (2,?)
4y=-3(2)+10
4y=-6+10
4y=4
y=4/4
y=1
so ordered pair is (2,1)

3) y=2x-5 , substitute x=4
y=2(4)-5
y=8-5
y=3(Answer)

1) The answer is no. Plug the x-coordinate (1) into x and the y-coordinate (-2) and solve it. 2 times 1 minus 3 times -2 equals 8 not 6.

2) The answer is 4. Plug the x-coordinate (2) into x. 2 times 3 plus 10 is 16. Divide both sides of the equal sign by 4 to get y by itself. 16 divided by 4 is 4.

3) The answer is y=3. Plug x=4 into x. 4 times 2 minus 5 equals 3.
