No. If people can't figure out how to punch a hole in a card in Florida they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Or drive a vehicle, for that matter.

Those that voted for Kerry because he said, "We have the worst economy since the Great Depression" shouldn't be allowed to vote again unless they stood starving in a soup line the year he claimed it was happening.

Those that think when sailors accomplish their mission that it means "War is Over" instead of "Mission Accomplished" should not be allowed to vote.

There are other tests but like above they just determine if someone is stupid.

If stupid people exist, it is because our country is not educating them. We should allow all Americans who have the capability to understand and make decisions of who they would like ot vote for be allowed to vote. It is not difficult to vote for the person who makes the promises you most like- and if that candidate does not follow through, then people can call them on it. Also, don't forget, there are millions of Americans, and plenty of those are obsessed with elections, politics, and the like. The issues arrive when only a few people vote. That does NOT represent the political mindset of the American people as a whole, and in many cases is actually an agenda of the power elite.
GRAB INFORMATION- MAKE DECISIONS! WE ARE AMERICA. WE ARE STRONG.

The majortiy of people do not vote the majority of the time-

But why should you know Senators or Representatives- why do we even need them?

People vote for what effects and concerns them- how does that make them stupid? Isn't it really the people who vote for the bigger intangibles the really stupid ones?

In most elections fewer than 50% of eligible voters bother to go to the polls. The uniformed and the indifferent tend to stay home. I think that is a good thing. My son suggests that you should pass a current events test to be eligible to vote. That would be a good thing as well. Democracy can work only if the voters are informed and thoughtful.

LOL......ya you'd think they should have a minimul IQ standard. Lord knows coz he's cute or just because of their sex or race alone certainly isn't a means for an intelligent choice. They aren't giving us that much to vote for anyway.....so some serious thought would be nice.

But it's one of the few rights we still have....who knows how they'd limit it further if we started out with intelligence? Gotta fight for that right....even if it is for stupid people.

Of course. Voting represents the voice of all citizens -- educated and otherwise. Sure, it would be nice if everyone was aware of the important issues and the various parties' stands on each of those issues, but regardless, voting is one of our key rights, and it should not be taken away or limited based on the intelligence (or knowledge) of the voter.

First of all..what gives you the right to call "people" stupid? People might think you are "stupid" for asking such a question as this. Our Government doesn't care if you are "stupid" or not to vote, as long as you are of age to vote and you go out and vote when it's time. They really don't care. Furthermore... the definition of "stupid" is the quality or condition of being "stupid", or lacking intelligence. This can be determined as to the actions, behaviors, words or beliefs in the individual. The determination of being "stupid" is difficult ,despite the attempts to measure intelligence thru IQ testing. A poor ability to understand or to profit from experience.
Definition of Ignorance: Lack of knowledge, lack of education, state of being uninformed.
In my opinion these 70% of Americans are not "stupid" as you call them but might be "ignorant" due to being uninformed about their Senators or Reps. but I wouldn't call them stupid.Have you ever heard the saying "Ignorance is Bliss"? What it means is: Not knowing something is often more comfortable than knowing it. It's a proverb that resembles "What you don't know, won't hurt you". or "Tis folly to be wise". So what I'm trying to say is that just because these Americans that don't know their Senators or Reps. names doesn't mean their stupid. Furthermore, you had asked if these type of Americans should vote...my answer..Anyone of age that knows who they want for President or any other delegrate that's running should have the opportunity to vote regardless of their intelligence, race, religion, or sex. I believe I have proven my point.

Stupid people voted in the Nov 2006 elections so why not continue the trend?

2007-03-11 09:33:12 · answer #9 · answered by cbrown122 5 · 0 1

Yes, in fact we should encourage them to vote.

Then we can identify the really, really stupid people who are a waste of oxygen and send them all to "Happy Camp".

Now, where are those three people who voted for a second term for Jimmy Carter?

No! That would insure we would not get a liberal socialist Democrat back in.

First, you gotta eliminate Hilary and Pelosi, then Kerry and Gore (who invented the internet). Kennedy is in. He was smart enough not to be tried for murder 1.

Arnie couldn't vote. He let's Marie run him.
