A conservative is anyone that agrees with the nazi neocons currently occupying our white house.
A liberal is anybody that disagrees with them.

If you don't believe me, just disagree with any neocon here on some issue and see how many kinds of liberal you get called.

I'm actually going to go a different direction with this question. The main difference in my opinion between the conservatives and liberals, is views on absolute truth. Most conservatives believe in absolute truth, good and evil, right and wrong. This stems from religion, which most conservatives have. From this all political views are divined. Once right and wrong is established, it is universal, so what is good for christians is good for america is good for world. On the other hand most liberals are relativists. This is not that they do not believe in right and wrong, but they are not necesarily inherent and constant things applicable to all situations or nations for that matter. Consequently conservatives tend to stand for traditional values, this is not bad in itself, but at times i.e. slavery, segregation, witch hunts, while liberals have stood for progressive values which is not good in itself i.e. sympathy for marxist transgressions, blind pacifism at times. Of course these are not definitive terms by any measure, and people do not split neatly into two monolithic groups.

The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality.
They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class.
The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.
A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy

Both of these parties are groups of people who have a political out look that comes down to the bottom line of they all want to become life long politicians. These parties do not have your or anyone's best interest in mind. They only want to keep there political seats in government. Both of these groups of people are the same group who told us in the 1960's to crawl under a desk in case of a nuclear war. These are also the same bozo's who told us to go out and buy duct tape to protect our families from biological attacks?

Conservatves claim to want small government but don't mind when the government wants to get in your business. (abortion, gay marriage, etc) They also tend to hate welfare and accuse liberals of not working. Many believe global warming is made up.

Liberals want the government out of everyones personal life. They tend to be pro choice and many support gay marriage. They feel if someone needs help they should be able to get welfare until they can get back on their feet.

Liberals trust the government to feed, clothe, and provide shelter for them. They do not trust the same government to enact laws. The do not trust the same government to keep us safe.

Conservatives want the government to be minimally involved in every aspect of our private and corporate lives. And conservatives believe in a strong military to keep our nation safe.

They are two different political parties. They are usually on opposite ends of the spectrum whem it comes to certain issues. However, my advice to you would be to be your own person. This country is in the middle of a political war. Remember to agree with what you believe, and remember that you never have to fall under one of these titles (which is all they are).

Liberal and conservative are political philosophies. Democrats and Republicans are political parties.

Liberals believe in personal freedoms, lack of government regulation, equal opportunity, and protection of the environment. Most favor government regulation of business to those ends. A liberal someone who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties, and who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire, resulting in self-regulating markets rather than government regulation of business.

Conservatives believe in traditional values, morality, and conformity. They oppose government regulation of business, but favor government regulation of personal conduct and relationships. Conservative are resistant to change, and opposed to liberal reforms. They favor stability over change, and predictability over uncertainty.

It's like a viewer watching both images of an egotist staring in a mirror who criticizes every aspect of his image, then turns around and pretends to be handsome.

Meanwhile the viewer cannot tell which image is real and which is a reflection.
