-b + 4y; b=4. y=-3
substitute

-(4) + 4(-3)
-4 - 12 = -16

answer: -16

so that's -3+4(-3) which is -15

Remember the BODMAS rule :

Brackets of Division ,Multiplication ,Arithmetic and Subtraction,

this will help you ,do the arithmetic easily.

1)= - ( 4) + 4 * ( -3 )
2)= -4 + ( -12 );
3) =-4 -12 ;
4) = -16
