Six months ago I bought philips pc in the PC World.I had so many problems with it since,I had to do recovery about 7-8 times. They changed the motherboard and the memory, but I keep getting an error messages and blue screens.
Now I was told to call philips for recovery cd,because there was something badly installed on my hard drive.
If it still won`t help, does anybody know what I am entitled to with the manufacturers warranty, should they give me a replacement or refund?

if from a store ur fine if u have receipt.its usual for a repair/replacement.if u've got some balls ur in total control.legally they've sold u faulty goods and the above should be a foregone conclusion.i personally would play the what sort of company am i dealing with(in the middle of the store) to see what else u can get from them.stores hate bad publicity, and as long as u got ur facts right they'd rather pacify u than u make a scene about it while prospective buyers are within earshot!!!!!

Forget the manufacturers warranty.

Your contract is with the store.

You can ask for your money back - you don't need the receipt, although this is useful to prove you bought from the store. If you paid with a debit card or cheque, your bank statement will be evidence of the transaction.

You don't have to accept a credit note or voucher.

The retailer is responsible for the goods being of 'merchantable quality' and being 'fit for purpose'.

In consumer law, there is no 12 month time limit, you must act in a reasonable timeframe.

If you bought goods over £100 with a credit card, your credit card provider is 'jointly liable' and you could take the matter up with them.

Write to the head office, clearly stating what has happened and that you are not happy and wish to have a refund (or if you prefer a replacement PC).

Please note that DSG, the holding company for PC World, may send you a refurbished unit as a replacement.

In terms of reliability, a refurbished unit may be more reliable than a new unit, so don't reject this out of hand, if offered.

If you need a recovery CD, it is PC World's responsibilty to get this for you. Don't take any crap, or be pushed to the manufacturer.

you are only entitled to your money back / exchange within 28 days of purchase after that it is up to the store to repair/replace any faulty parts for the rest of the year however if you took out the extended warranty when you bought the pc then you are entiltled to a no-quibble replacement from PC world .

It is the sellers responsibility to ensure that goods are fit for the purpose designated. This PC is obviously not. PC World should sort it out, for your legal rights go to the following link www.direct.gov.uk you will get all the info you need. PC World do tend to get some bad press regarding put ting things right. Hope this helps.

You are not legally intitled to a refund or a replacement. All they are obliged to do by law is repair it. If you want some really good advice ring trading standards and they will give you some help.

Probably miniscule after you've checked the small print. The insurance you take out after the one year "guarantee" is probably even worse. Check 'em. Daylight robbery country.
