Settlers of Cattan is good. Combines strategy and chance. And nobody is eliminated. The only knock is that the base game and its variations, come in 4 player versions so you have to buy expansion packs to play with 5 or 6.

A very good board game is LIFE. It is technically about real life. You get to go to college and get a job!
It is really fun!
Also, another good board game is Monopoly. But u probably already have it.If u r in beetween the ages of 6-12 u would like this game called Don't Wake Daddy. It is all about random luck and the cards u pick.
Last but not least a good game is TABOO. It is a game where u r on a team and u try to describe the word on the card. But below the word there are five words that u r not allowed to use. So u try to describe as many words to your partner until your time runs out.
~These r some games I reccomend~

Chess, if you read up on it you will find that there are more possible games than there are stars, if you go half way threw a game of chess you will see that there are many options, but lets just say you only have 8, in a 4 move span you have 8x8x8x8 for white and 8x8x8x8 for black. Thats 262144 per player or524288 for both, thats in just 4 moves. The game of chess will never get old for you. Its a hard game to learn and takes a lifetime to perfect, but if you like to use your mind and like puzzles, mathmatics or anything of that sort, you can never get bored with chess way to many variations, hope this helps and i also hope there will be a new chess player in the world soon.
p.s. chess is easy to learn the basics but hard to do correctly, if you do decide to play realize one thing, it will be awhile before you get good, but theres nothing better than winning your first game!

Older more "classic" games I really like Monopoly and Life. If you're looking for a newer game to play I highly suggest Cranium or Cranium Turbo.

It really depends on what you're looking for.

Do you want a silly, fun party game? Apples to Apples, Balderdash
A fairly easy, yet strategic, boardgame? Settlers of Catan, Alhambra, Carcassonne
A more complex strategy game? Puerto Rico, Power Grid

Chess is the best, you can play it alone or with your friend that means 2 Players :-) ... " and makes you think deeply"
If You want to play with a group.. i would recommend "Risk" kind of strategy game and LUCK!! with the dice...
after that "monopoly" is also a nice game ..

I like to play monopoly, risk, LIFE, carrom (kinda like pool), cluedo, chess, and tumblin, monkeys. But i'd really reccomend that you choose a good version of monopoly to suit your needs! But what do I know I'm only 14. Hope I helped!

My favorite game of all time is Apples to Apples. Some people consider it to be a card game but it can be both a card and board game. It's the funnest ever! =]

I thing Monoploy is boring...I love Taboo. We play that game when our family gets together, like for holidays and so on. You have to give hints to your "team" of a word, with out saying the word its self or other words that describe it that are listed on the card, they are all Taboo.
