I am planning on reading a lot this summer and I am looking for some cool books to read. I like books that are a little different from what you normally read. I don't really like a particular genre either. I am 13 but have an extremely high reading level. Help!

Try the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, about a 20something girl in UK who has a spending problem and does PR for a financial company. Also by Kinsella, Can You Keep a Secret? and The Undomestic Goddess. Anything by Paulo Coehlo, The Divine Sisters of the YaYa Sisterhood series, The Great Gatsby, The Motorcycle Diaries, Sybil, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Devil Wears Prada (better than the movie), The Lovely Bones and Lucky (both by Alice Sebold). Hope these will help you. Have a great summer.

You weren't very clear about what kind of books you're looking for since "something different from what you normally read" could be interpreted at least a hundred different ways...but here are some of my favorites:

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

Some of my favorite books are YA books--some are 'trendy' books on bestseller lists--though that is not why I picked them up and read them--and some are less well known.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
Peeps by Scott Westerfeld
Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rules of Survival by Nancy Werlin
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson
Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

Some authors to check out:

David Klass
Louis Lowery
Caroline B. Cooney
S.E. Hinton
Margaret Peterson Haddix

These are excellent authors that I loved when I was thirteen.

The Seventh Harry Potter book comes out, reread the Harry Potter books.

Only thirteen? My you are wise beyond your years. Ask your English teacher for their recommendation based on your personal interests. If you have any interest in history, I would encourage you to look at all the novels James Michener has written. Also, go to your local library and speak to the librarian about what you have enjoyed reading already. They are sure to suggest something for you, and at a reading level you will be comfortable with. Good luck and happy reading.

Otherland Series, by Tad Williams -- A group of people get stuck in a virtual reality program when each of them seeks to uncover why so many children and teens are entering into long-term comas after internet (in this case, internet as interneural link).

The Forge of God/ Anvil of Stars, by Greg Bear detail the destruction of the earth by self-replicating destroyer robots (ps-sounds rather space operaish, but it really is filled with good and complex male and female charaters, and ethical questions), and then also, in teh second book (Anvil of Stars) details the life of children who were rescued off of the planet by ships tracking the destroyer race, who (children) were sent to destroy the offending destroyer race to fulfill the law.

Mulengro -- Fantasy, Something is stalking and killing Romany (gypsies) living in Canada. Great characters, great setting, great everything.

I like the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, it's about a girl falling in love with a vampire, but there are these other vampires that are trying to kill her. It's part of a series and some of the other books in it still have to come out.
Another good book is the Mediator series by Meg Cabot, it's about a girl who falls in love with this 150 year old ghost that lives in her bedroom, but she always has to try to fight other ghosts and help them move on.

There was one ... I think it was called Maiden Voyage about a young woman who's dad thought she was spending too much time in bars so told her she could either go to college or he would lend her a boat. She ended up sailing solo on a 26 foot Contessa and her story was a good one.Sorry I don't remember the author's name.
