I am installing XP on a newly built system. I have been able to get to the formatting hard drive stage of the install process on numerous occasions. The install process has been interrupted every time by several different blue screen error messages. I am purchasing another stick of ram to see if that allows me to complete the install. The system consists of a Chaintech MK8T890, running an Athlon64 3000 754 processor, a 512mb stick of pc3200 ram, and a Western Digital 300mb SATA drive.

Forgive me for excluding any information, this is my first build. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are hardware related error, IMO.

1. You must get a better memory. PC3200 is too slow for Athlon64 processor. Just get something faster, such as DDR2.

2. Check if your CD or DVD drive is in good condition. Perhaps, error while installing caused by the head can't read the CD or DVD.

3. Sometime, bad power supply will generates some problems too.
