i ask this because i find it funny that if you do not support homosexuality, you are ignorant and prejudice. for myself i have pointed out that the bible states that homosexuality is wrong, and i get ripped on for doing so. for example after tim hardaway made those comments about "hating" gays, john amechi (the player who came out), said he felt sorry for him and basically made him seem barbaric, and the media ate him alive for being honest (we do have free speech don't we?). but doesn't it seem funny that you are singled out for not supporting "gays", yet "supporters" doesn't want any hate or segregation (or is that for just themselves). anyone's opinion on this?

Not everyone who is against homosexuality is ignorant, only those who don't research both sides of the argument. The same goes for anyone who supports homosexuality but hasn't looked into the reasons against it.

Personally I support gay rights, but I also am agnostic so I have no reason not to.

Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but if we start making laws based solely on the Bible (or any other religious doctrine) we are essentially violating the freedom of religion by pushing one religious ideal over another.

So you think you're not being prejudiced because you use the Bible to justify your beliefs? Interesting. Umm, doesn't the Bible also say "Judge not lest ye be judged?" But I guess that verse doesn't support your prejudices, so why listen to it, eh? I won't even get into the Biblical prohibitions on cutting your hair or seeing your uncle naked - both considered sins just as bad as homosexuality.

I guess your point is that by making remarks looking down on prejudiced bigots, supporters of HUMAN rights are being prejudiced themselves. Perhaps you're right to a degree. We shouldn't insult you, certainly. But I think pointing out to people how destructive your kind of hate-mongering is is important. You're singled out for barbarity in any decent society for spreading hatred, whether it be against gays, blacks, whites, atheists, Christians, etc. Otherwise no one learns any better and nothing changes.

The Bible DOESN'T point that out, though.

Oh, and just because a person may be honest doesn't mean that what they're being honest ABOUT is acceptable. For instance, someone may say "I've killed 3 people... what, I'm just being honest!" and no one would be expected to give them a pat on the back and a wave as they walk out the door all because they "told the truth".

Telling the truth isn't a "free pass". You don't get to say whatever foul, hurtful, bigoted garbage you like and have people smile and give you a thumbs up. Tell the truth, fine, that's great, but don't expect that you're going to be loved for it.

Believing in the Bible, if you choose to do so, is your own thing. Christians get so upset when the media attacks people who come out against gays. Christians say that if someone speaks out against homosexuality, they are simply telling the truth as the Bible proclaimed it, and therefore, should be encouraged to continue doing so. But they also get upset when someone says something that goes against the Bible. Newsflash, Christians... just because you believe the Bible is the word of the one true God... doesn't mean everyone agrees with you. I'm so tired of this "we Christians should be able to badger everyone with our assinine religion, but I don't want to see or hear anything that disagrees with me." And you say it all has to do with freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Last time I checked, everyone had freedom of religion and freedom of speech, not just people who decided to believe an assinine book that contradicts itself. But I dgiress...

you are singled out for hating people for their chosen lifestyle. If your bible tells you that homosexuality is wrong then, good for you and your bible but notice i said good for YOU and YOUR bible. Keep that away from me.
As someone said elsewhere on Q&A, stay away from other people's bedroom and they will stay away from yours.
John Amaechi said this is who i am and it is ok to be who i am
Tim Hardaway said i hate who you are and you are not acceptable to society.
If you don't see anything wrong with Tim Hardaway's statement i suggest you check yourself into a clinic immediately if not sooner

Ok, yes the bible says man shall not lay with man as he lays with woman or whatever.

little newsflash.. THE BIBLE IS FICTION.

What is reality- People have the right to choose who they want to be with. You cannot force a man who wants to be with another man to make a woman miserable for the rest of her life.

I support gay rights. I'm not sure what you mean by "supporting homosexuality." I don't feel it's any of my (or your) business what consenting adults do in their bedrooms.
