I used to bite my nails really bad until a few years ago when i read something that said, the germs under your nails are the equivelant to scraping your nails underneath a toilet seat four times. That stuff goes in your mouth!!! i stopped literally as soon as i had read that! If you find your habit is too strong to be put off by that then yea stop n grow or something like that should do the trick! You can do it!! good luck!

Go to a beauty supply store and ask for this stuff called No-Bite. It's a very bitter nail polish that makes your nails taste gross, so you'll be less inclined to bite. If you can't find it, or want a quick fix, you can just dip your nails in nail polish remover every morning and later in the afternoon; that tastes pretty gross too.

i used to bite my nails for years to the point of them bleeding, then i went into nursing and i stopped straight away as i did not really like the idea of putting my fingers into my mouth after doing certain things , even if i was wearing gloves, now i have lovely nails, but i used that stop nail biting stuff you can buy from boots for my little girl and it worked for her.

Hypnotherapy. It really works. It makes the desire for biting your nails dissapear. You could also try clear nail polish as eating that as you bite your nails leaves a bit to be desired.

You can buy Stop'n'Grow, it's kind of like nail varnish but it has a bitter taste and should stop you from biting your nails again.

Put lotion on or even dip your nails in nail polish remover every once in a while. That way when you bite them it will taste nasty and you won't do it again.

Why don't you go to the nail parlour and have fake ones put on? They are quite hard so you couldn't bite them but they would look great as well.

When I had to stop biting my nails I "replaced" them with little beverage straws. They had the same feels as nails on my tongue.

I also found it helpful to sit on my hands in quiet situations when there is no straw available.

Also, if there is no straw and you cannot sit down, keep your hands busy with something.
