I am filling out a resume for a company using their online resume creator. I am slightly confused because it is asking me for provide information for both "Type of job interested in" and "objective". Aren't these two categories very similar? What different information should I put in each?

An objective is like the goal you are trying to reach. If you'd like to change careers, use the skills from past jobs to move up, or whatever you'd like you put it into two or three sentances and let the company know what you're after. Type of job interested in is exactly what it says, its the work you're looking for. If you'd like to get into clerking, bookkeeping, sales, just insert it there. Monster.com has WONDERFUL resume advice, they have a book out and information to help polish your resume on their site.

No they are not the same. The type of job would be indiciative of how many jobs they have in their building: secretary; filing clerk; manager; supervisor, etc. The objective is something totally different: e.g. To be a science teacher in a progressive school. They are two different ideas.

I think what it is asking is in "Type of job interested in" for a job title, and for "Objective" what you would like to accomplish in your job.
