Some people are so insecure they take a ball being kicked into their garden as an attack against them.

If it hit a window, that can be very alarming to the people inside a house.

In your position after the matter had cooled down, I would endeavour to speak to the man about the distress his voice can cause to young children, but also listening to his view.

I hope you are not moving because of this man, as there are many insecure people all over the place.

There are ways and means of advising children about playing ball, even if it does go into someone else's garden. Providing no damage was done, like a broken window or something similar, the best thing to do is to keep the ball for an hour or so and then take it back to the child's home.
Dad would then know what had happened and if the Dad had any sense, would give the child advice.
Shouting only gives the child a taste of the man's behaviour.

It does sound like the bloke has an anger problem, because today I "put up" with kids kicking a soccer ball into my yard, and not just once -- no big deal! Sorry you have such an irate neighbor. Yep, he's angry about something and taking it out on any little thing that he preceives as "coming his way." What a creep!

Maybe the ball ruined some of the flowers in his garden?

some people are just miserable that way. as a kid there was an old lady who lived a few houses down. used to scream at us for riding our big wheels in front of her house, we, the neighborhood kids, just stayed off her lawn - we still rode by though!

You need to be more clear in your questions. Type slowly, and form complete thoughts with your sentences so we can understand them. Don't assume we know what you are trying to say.
