I am going out on a limb to say that this year's Stanley Cup finals will be a horror-show for hockey purists.

I say Atlanta will play Nashville in the final due to each of their respective goaltenders becoming stonewalls (and in the case of Nashville, Vokoun and Mason sharing the load), and, each of their coaches making some crafty line-changes at the most opportune times. This will be coupled by some inopportune injuries and slumps by Ottawa, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh.

Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and whoever finishes in eighth spot have, since January, been very streaky - win a few, lose a few - and depend on one or two guys to carry the load and I predict they will collapse under the weight of playoff pressure (though I have been proven wrong in the past) - going into a slump a tthe worst possible time.

Why will this be a horror show for purists? Look at the geographic location of the two cities I mentioned - Atlanta and Nashville.

I say, given those two teams, Nasville wins in six, meaning Kari Lehtonen will narrowly miss out on a Conn Smythe trophy to a Predator who always seems to come out of nowhere to excel in the playoffs - J.P. Dumont.

well its pretty hard to predict who will win the Stanley cup as you can see the past 2 teams that have won it know one in this world would of guess that the Canes and Lightning would of won the Stanley cup well only there own fans but that doesn't count. the first round is one of the hardest rounds to win, some teams that can give them a really good boost and some teams it will just tired them out. so yes allot of people can say well New Jersey, Buffalo, Nashville and Detroit are the favourites but then you have to look at who's goalie will be hot cause you need that hot goalie in the playoffs, if Martin Brodeur goes in to a slump the Devils will not advance then you seen what happened to the Stars last year with all the shootout wins well will it happened again with the Sabres this year who knows. then you have the Penguins great pick up at trade deadline so know the Pens are also a contender so its just to hard to predict who will actually win the Stanley cup.

im going with Devils win over the Preds in 6 games.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

First off, it's nearly impossible to predict which goalie will be a stonewall in the playoffs, and as Edmonton proved last year, seeding doesn't particularly matter when the postseason begins.

My prediction isn't a prediction so much as it is wishful thinking, but I want to see Calgary win Lord Stanley's Cup against Pittsburgh in 7 games.

i might say that the canucks/hawks series replaced into the main dull series in spite of the indisputable fact that it wasn't a humdrum series. They have been all close video games and it replaced right into a 6 sport series, there have been numerous lead alterations and it replaced into very actual so for that to be the worst series interior the 2nd around is incredibly good. This around has been large and much greater effective than final years 2nd around even regardless of the indisputable fact that final years playoffs had the perfect hockey sport I even have ever viewed (sharks vs. stars sport 6). This around has been large however the 1st around wasn't large, there have been 3 sweeps and a lot an extremely non-close video games so this has been between the perfect 2nd rounds yet no longer playoffs, the 1st around is a significant around to be appealing and it wasn't.

Nashville or Anaheim Vs. Buffalo, buffalo in 6.

Why? Buffalo has been strong all year. they have been streaky lately because key players are out. Now that those guys are coming back, they should go in very strong.

Nashville- Strong good all round team. they don't' play so much as individual stars as they do a unit. And Forsberg should help.

Anaheim- they have been a steady performer all year, I would not be surprised if they kept the ball rolling through the playoffs.

its so hard to tell who is going to be the winner. who couldve guessed the canes wouldve won it against the oilers last year??? absolutely no one...except for die hard fans. i also think the new rules are a big factor in playoff hockey.
buffalo has an amazing team...acquiring dainius zubrus is keeping the team young...so id take them for the east. for the west...its really tough to say...but i love vancouver right now...riding a 5 game winning streak and holding the northwest conference. out of the 2...and im being biased because im canadian, i take vancouver...in 6.
just my opinion.

New Jersey vs Anaheim and it's still a toss up for me who wins, but either Brodeur or Giguere wins the Conn Smythe.

Buffalo vs Nashville. Buffalo will win in 6 games.

This assumes that the refereeing remains as it has been during the regular season. If the refs call less penalties in the playoffs (as has been the history) then Buffalo may be replaced by Atlanta, Ottawa or the Islanders.
