I'm a grammie, and believe me, I don't wear that old lady stuff you're talking about. I do know what you're saying though. They walk into a store, and you smell them for an hour. OMG, it's disgusting. LOL I'm a very young Grammie. ~~~

Because back when grandma's were young there was only five types of perfume and they grew very fond of the smell. Over time, the perfumes have become diluted and they all basically have the same odor. Grandma's love this smell. Watch out because the smells that you like now are going to stink someday!

I'm not sure but I wouldn't call "not bathing since Saturday night" a smelly perfume.

"good" perfume takes some of the essence from the wearer,
old ladies = old worn out essence, = same smelly perfume.
(same with my aftershave -- damned old age)

As you get older, and you will, as I am, you're body scent changes, and you KNOW you smell bad. So, it's just a feeble attempt to control something totally out of your control. Oh yeah, and avoid offending others...which is ironic! lol
