i bought my 2 guinea pigs together back in september 2006, they both get along very well.
they are in a big spacey cage and sometimes when it's sunny they play around in the grass in my back garden.

they are both very different from each other, Poochini, he is very shy and a bit of a coward, Pikachu, he is very witty, naughty and quick.

I was wonderin if it would be a good idea to get a female guinea pig?

I think the sky would fall if that were to happen. I've done that with rabbits, and then it was war, they couldn't be together, they fought and bit each other, they might have even killed each other if it wasn't before we seperated them. If you want another female, you should seperate the males or seperate her from the males.

Oooh, that's a nasty nasty idea unless you're going to seperate the males almost the moment the girl comes into the house. Once male guniea pigs see or smell a girl (and they're very good at that, lol!), their personalities change in the course of minutes and they often become instantly terratorial and will fight with each other (usually even if the girl isn't in their cage).

If you seperate the guys and are prepared to deal with babies this isn't a bad idea at all, but leaving one guy by himself will probably make him lonely so it would be kindest to get two girls. This is taking on a lot of responsability though, and after lots of amazing experience with all of my guinea pigs (the babies are addicting, I will warn you, because I've never seen a cuter baby animal than a day old guinea piglet!), I think I actually would reccomend that you don't. If you're ready for all that responsability, then I don't think you'll be sorry if you get a girl, but if you're happy and content just as you are and you have a busy life then I would suggest leaving what you have just the way it is.

Good luck with your piggies and whatever you decide.

It would be a bad idea. You already have two guys who are friends. First, they would fight over the female. One would either be hurt or left out of the gang. Second, the female would always be pregnant which isn't a great idea either.

You can get the female spayed or get the males neutered and avoid that problem (really!) but the bigger problem will be that they may not get along as well after you add the female to the group.

No, it is not a good idea. Not only will the female get pregnant (a big risk to her health and big responsibility) but you will have to deal with the two males fighting over her. If you really want a female, it would be best to get two females and house them seperately from the boys. You sound like you have a good thing going for your two boys, and I recommend keeping it that way! :)

One male. adult males each now and then could properly be territorial and as they grow old will favor to be separated. females favor to be in communities more suitable yet 2 guinea pigs ability two times the poo and two times the water needs. Guinea pigs poo and drink a ton! lol. yet adult males are frequently more suitable laid again and females are frequently more suitable lively. adult males will favor to sit down down on your lap for longer cases then females. And, reckoning on the piggy, females can get crabby even as in warmth. reliable luck!
