should i get a boy or a girl hamster? is one nicer?

i know its gross...but i once saw a hamster with like a huge dick sticking out of its butt...
does this happen to all male hamsters? case if it does im getting a girl!!

I have a male hamster. If you go to a petstore thats all they sell. I dont think one is nicer then the other. Both are equal unless the girl is pregnate.
r u a first time hamster owner? If so email me and i can get you all the details on owning one! (there is ALOT more info then what they tell you at stores)
If you decideing on what type of hamster email me also cause i know about the bahviors and such on diffrent hamsters (such as the difference between a dwarf and a regukar hamster)

I have 11 males and 7 female Syrains plus 6 female and 2 female Russin dwarfs and I have found most of the the males to be more docile, they tend to tame quicker, whereas the females are jumpier and a little bit harder to tame. With a male you won't bring home a pregnant one unlike a female. Get a female and it may be oops, you now have 15 instead of one. Then what do you do? They can have up to 20 or 1. Once you choose and get him/her home, let it have a day or two to settle before you try to pick it up. Talk to it softly and try to had give treats of peanuts or sunflower seeds.
This site has good information, I've been recomending it to adoptive parents of my rescued hamsters.

i like girl hamsters i have had 2 male blk bear and a male short hair and all they did was sleep. i got a female long hair and she tripled in size because she runs on her wheel so much. personality wise i would go with the females. good luck =]

Male hamsters are easier to deal with, and are friendlier to being handled.

mabye a boy because the girls can be very teritoral about coming out of the cage and if she gets pregnet she will not want anyone to see her babies and if you do see them when they comeout she will eat one i know i had a hamster who was female.
