I think some people, like myself, just have that innate ability to "follow their own drummer" combined with using good common sense. Also, seeing how others who were giving in to peer pressure to do drugs, drink (and drive!) excessively, have unprotected sex and other bad behaviors were having undesirable consequences of that behavior (a couple of fatal drunk driving incidents of high school classmates, a few friends getting pregnant, kids jailed for stealing, dealing, etc.) didn't look like my idea of a good time--although these kids claimed they were having one! I wasn't the perfect child by any means--smoked a little dope, did some of the drinking but not to excess, etc.--I just think, especially with all the info kids have today that we didn't 20- 30 yrs ago, the peer pressure would be on to make better choices rather than continue to contribute to the declining values and morals of society.

By the self confidence of knowing that my REAL friends would not pressure me to do something I was not comfortable doing and that our friendship was not based on those things but the acceptance of who we were.

You just have to remind yourself that the people that mind won't matter, and the people that matter won't mind.
Life can get so much better when you are out of school and can follow your own path in life.

How? I wasn't real popular so it was never much of a problem. I just did what I wanted to do.
