I recently began visiting a tanning bed and got burnt the first little while trying to figure the best amount of time for my skin type. I've only been for about a week now and the area between my breasts had got the worst of it. It hasnt been burnt horribly just a light red but its been itching quite a bit and developed a few bumps. Has anyone had this issue, or know what it may be?

I had that happen many times and it is a burn. I am so pale that when I first started tanning I had to start at 3 minutes and very slowly work my way up. If I stopped tanning for a couple of months, I had to start again around 7-8 minutes. You really need to go slowly and only increase at 2 minute intervals. For now, stop tanning for a couple of days to let that area heal. When you go back, reduce your time and increase it again very slowly. I also do not recommend tanning a lot. I went in the winter because it was great for my depression and my skin, but I only went twice a week. When the weather changed I stopped completely, and now I don't tan at all.

Oh- try not to use tanning lotions that use words like Hot, Heat, Red etc... they tend to make you burn more easily (for me they did anyway)

i had this also happen to me but now i just found that its basically just the drying of the skin so i put lotion on before i got to bed and also after i get out of the shower in the morning this will make your skin softer and it will help you tan better also because if your skin is healthy and mosturized you will get a better tan

You damaged your skin because you burned it so badly. Sounds like it blistered. I suggest you try a self-tanner rather than a tanning bed-- it doesn't seem to be working for you.

please dont go to tan beds anymore! they can scar you for life and really increase your chances of skin cancer. So many people who use tan beds get skin cancer. Plus they often go wrong, as in your case.

Your safest and nicest looking tan will come from being outside in the sunshine with sunscreen on. :)

you should not use tanning bed's, you can get cancer from that .the bumps are most likely blister's and you will have to wait for them to heal put some cream on them to keep it moist and stay away from tanning bed's. ask your doctor what they think of tanning bed's before you use them again.

Put aloe vera gel on it and it may go away.
The real sunshine with sunscreen is your best tan.
