This is a pretty bad story. Maybe not the worst, but it is still pretty bad.

I found an old model rocket when I was about 10 years old. I took it home, and with some wood glue I found in the garage, I fixed a broken tail fin. I removed the plastic cap and set it aside.

This is where my little tale begins to go downhill.

You see I am a huge fan of fireworks and figured I could make the 4th of July come a little early that year. I took some kerosene and filled the tip and made a fuse out of old yarn soaked in the same liquid and crammed it into the little hole. Then I sealed the tip with bathroom caulk and stuffed the tip back into the body of the rocket. Then I got one of those engines for my "firework" at a model store and hammered it into the rocket. Then when I had a day off on Saturday, I decided to take my new toy down the street to impress the neighbor kids. They were so excited to see it, and wanted to launch it right away. I told them that there was going a be a BIG suprise when the time comes.

The big suprise was definately going to be monumental.

The rocket was launched from a makeshift pad of a couple of concrete blocks and some matches and some toilet paper as a fuse to the bottom of the rocket. That thing roared off the ground at lightning speed. I held my breath and waited for the huge explosion from the kerosene, but it never happened. Then something occured that I didn't see comming. The fin that I had glued back on a few days earlier came off and it zoomed pass a house across the street and landed in their back yard. We could all see it burried into the ground as the engine was still spewing exaust. One of the neighbor boys turned to me and said, where is this big suprise you were talking about? All was quiet...

Then an explosion rocked our ear drums. The pressure built up so much from the air and fuel mixture, that when the lit yarn fuse hit the tip, it went off like a bomb. Flames shot out of the tip and set the peoples yard on fire. I screamed and took of running. I didn't know what to do at that point.

When the fire men came and put out the peoples back yard I just sat on my bed and waited for my dad to come home and beat the crap out of me for that little stunt.

All in all, I will never play with fireworks again. I will elave that up to the professionals.

When I was about 6 I make a bow and arrow set out of some sticks and string i had found. then went to play cowboys and Indians with my little sister. Since i made the bow and arrow I was the Indian and soon got the drop on her. with my bow drawn I demand she drop her weapon, ( a stick for a gun), and surrender. She was in a stubborn mood and refused. With my bluff called by my 4 year old sister, I couldn't think of anything else to do but let the arrow go. It caught her on the cheek just below her eye. since it was only a toy make by a 6 year old, it only gave her a little scratch but she cried and I felt like a horrible crumb. But over the years I thought about that time and thank God that I did not have to live the rest of my life knowing that I put out my own sisters eye.

I stomped on my grandpa's big toe and took off running. I considered that naughty at the age of 7.

My friends and I tried to make gunpowder from a formula we found in a book. Fortunately for us, we were unsuccessful in this endeavor. I'm not totally sure 5th graders need to make gunpowder. In fact, I'm certain of it!
