My daughter was born on 22nd feb and she has had a cold for the last week. Having a cold is nothing to be worried about, everyone gets a cold at some stage in there life. Some people say that if you breast feed you baby then they have a strong immune system as the mother passes her resistance to infections through her milk but how try that is I wouldn't like to say. I am breast feeding and it hasn't stopped my daughter from getting a cold.

It is not true, for a baby to immune to a type of cold, it first has to catch it. Our immune system takes a virus or could and sort of copies it so that when it tries to enter the body again, it will be immune.

babies can catch colds and germs at any age its very common for babies to have about 8 colds a year as they are building up their immunity. Even babies that are breast fed still have the ability to catch colds and anything else that is going around.

Well the bad news is that your baby will probably have at least 10 colds in his or her first year. But it really isn't that bad. They just get stuffy noses which you can help with a few saline drops and things like a Karvol plug in at night.
Also your baby should still have some of your antibodies in his or her system to help fight off viruses and bugs, especially if you are still breastfeeding which will really help boost his or her immune system.
Don't worry too much, I know how precious and little she or he may seem right now, but babies are amazingly resillient.

Yes, they can catch cold. Breastfed babies get higher immunities from the colostrom, but it doesn't make them completely immune.
A cold isn't really a huge deal, because they don't generally come with high fevers. If your baby does catch a cold, s/he will be fine. Yes, they are little and helpless and will feel completely miserable, (and make you miserable in the process) but your baby will be fine.

Babies have little immunity to colds and illness, That is why they tell you to keep the baby limited to visits for two weeks,
and make you wash your hands, and ask if little ones visiting have colds. At least when I had my last one in 98 that is how it was. I would definitely be inclined to say yes they can, and if you are unsure with the answers given here, check with your pediatrician.

Babies catch 5 times more colds than adults! Why are you so worried about it? The common cold is pretty harmless and she needs to build up some resistance to it while she is young.

Hello ! Aww poor thing, yea its tough when your little one is sick. Well the best thing I can tell you to do is what my babys dr tells me, when they have fever you give them every 4-6 hrs tylenol and then Motrin. The first time tylenol then the next mortin. Something about doing that calms the temp. They each have something a little different that helps fever. Also a vaporizer the ones of steam. I use the Vicks one and that works great! And that baby Vapo Rub for babies with a little pink cap put a tiny bit on your finger, tiny bit , and rub on their little chest so they can breathe a little better too. And you could also try J &J vapo bath in a green bottle, that helps too. I hope she gets better and hope my advise can help you alittle! If she doesn't seem to get better, do take her to the dr ASAP. Good luck and God bless! :)

yes, babies can catch colds. the only bad thing about this is that you can not give them over the couter drugs depending on their age. If the cold persist longer than 7 days, you should take the baby to the emergency room. that could be sign that the baby may be more sick than you are.

Yes this is true, but when my daughter reached 4 months, she caught Flu, big time, and I was really frightened. She was being sick for 3 days, she had a fever, lathargic, and I was awake virtually all the time she was ill. I was trying to cool her temperature with cool flannels, she couldn,t even keep water down. so you're okay for the first 3 months.
