We all have heard the term "midlife crisis" and generally we all think of 40 some year old men getting sports cars, getting girlfriends who are 15+ years younger than them, etc. I have heard very little, if anything, on women having a mid life crisis. If it is possible, what are the signs/symptoms? What age does this generally start?

thanks for your answers!

No, I don't think every person goes through one. It just happens or depends. The signs would be thinking that your life is over, or that you haven't done what you said you would career wise, personal wise, wife or mother wise. You may think you are not attractive anymore and try to prove otherwise by what you mentioned, getting younger partners. You may get the urge to change your appearance, personality, attire, car you drive. You may want to go back to school and try to finish what you haven't or give up and think life is over. But it's not over, I think it should be more of a reminder to people, that it is not over yet, and you still have time, and you should take some time and re-discover yourself do the things you want to do, but get others involved or at least let them know. Sometimes it starts at 30 or 40 or 50 Its different for everyone. Some people are doing so great family or career wise at their 30s-50's that they just skip over the whole midlife crisis. On the other hand someone who has just lose a wife lost a job in that some age range may develop a midlife crisis because of that. Well, its my opinion anyways. It's only a mid life crisis if you let it be. It could be a mid life improvement, or wake up call. The "change" may or may not have anything to do with it. Some just say, "oh, the change? I'll take the pills ok lets go next issue" Some its more of an accumaltion of things. The change, the kids, the husband, their life.

Both men and women go through the same things. Neither of us want to accept the fact that people age, but we all do. I agree it's hard to accept, but it's all part of the life process.
Men tend to want younger females, and women tend to try and look younger by make up, clothing and hair dyes. We all know what it looks like for a 50 year old man to be dating a 25 year old female.. It looks silly and what in gods name can they have in common? But we also know how silly it looks for an aging female to be wearing tight clothing fat sticking out all over the place, face full of make up, and jet black hair with the latest style. Bottom line is to accept your age and be proud of who you are and stop fighting the age. You have earned the right to be older!!! I know i adore an attractive aged woman who looks and acts her age. And I don't date someone half my age unless ofcourse I get an offer I can't refuse (wink wink I'm only human)

Yes honey there is... Assume that there is a woman who has been neglected by her husband and has kids to look after, or who is a working woman alone without any intimate relationships. Men are advantageous over women in maintaining a balance of life, I guess.
