Sold to whom? By whom?

The South was a major cotton producing area, and the Confederacy continued to sell cotton to England and France despite Union attempts to blockade the ports.

Slaves were also traded within the slave states, both North and South.

There were all kinds of normal commerce going on at this time--weapons, clothing, food, etc. The New York Stock exchange was open and active.

Are you refering to North-South trade, or foreign trade, or domestic (all North or all South) trade?
