In a sense, yes it might be. But it all depend to the individual. Like the presidential election is just in the USA, so it will be a big year for the Americans, but may not for other people across the world.
In the case of Summer Olympic 2008 and EURO 2008, yes they are big sports events. But not many people are into sports, so they will be a big year for sport fans, but on the other hand not for some others.
Anyway, hopefully 2008 will be a big year for all of us in a very unique way for everyone. Cheers!

i've got constantly enjoyed the Olympics so with out England on the Euro's it particularly is unquestionably the spotlight for me. All issues being nicely, i'm going to be in Beijing for a jiffy later this twelve months to demonstrate screen some events!!

this year has a rather grand feel to it indeed, I wonder if has something to with all the political things taking place for some strange cosmic allighnment Either way i think its going to be an interesting year indeed.
