of course he will, unless someone takes Pat Robertson seriously and Hugo finds himself dead. but barring that, from his kissing of Castro's @$$ to claiming control of the Nations media outlets I doubt he would step down, unless he had a puppet successor lined up.

Yes, unfortunately I do, barring serious economic strife. He himself said he intended to stay in power until 2021, and he has based his popularity on handouts to the poor. Using this system, I believe, actually enables poverty and discourages cultural/socioeconomic changes that would improve the standard of living for the average Venezuelan. Conversely it keeps the majority voting for continued handouts from an increasingly illiberal government, run by a juvenile demagouge. What Venezuelans need most is not handouts, nor marxist propoganda, but education and investment in capital-building projects. A healthy welfare state is good, but not to the point of dependency.

I will answer this way... if Bush can still be leader, I expect anything can happen and Chavez, too, will also be around seven years later.
Both countires suffering the same fate.. leaders with more ego than brains!

I think it depends on who is ruling the earth in 7 years. If it is still independent nations, then Chavez will still be forcing his will on his people.
