Hysterctomy is normally removal of uterus. If you have already children it is ok..But even after hysterectomy you can continue your sexual life as usual after some time.Hope your doctor had completely discussed the matters with you. There is nothing to be afraid of.Good Luck.

Yikes! I had a partial hysterectomy some yrs ago and i can tell you just make sure when you go home you do not do any housework like vacuuming or lifting even if you feel up to it- i started to do this before 2 weeks becasue i felt pretty much back to normal and it was a big mistake, since you will be asleep during the procedure, of course that will be the easy part, everyone is different and our pain tolerance levels differ as well do i dont want to scare you and say you will wake up in pain, but for myself it hurt very much when i woke-felt like someone had cut me with knife(actually they did:) it was burning type pain, but in awhile you will be able to get pain med for it if you have this.
I suggest you get up and walk asap slowly at first and it may or may not hurt and then gradually it will get easier nd you will alk farther, whatever you do do not jsut stay laying in the bed and not want to walk around, that is the worse thing-i hope it goes well for you i was scared to death when i had mone done, but you will be okay-god bless you!

Try not to get too wound up about it - I did. I waited around for six hours to be admitted to be told I had to have a different op first, wait for test results and then be put back (at the bottom at I presume) on the list for hysterectomy. That two weeks ago. I'd even given up my job because of it. Good Luck.

Had one at age 30, the best decision ever made!!!!
Tip: have an epideral before the surgery, and then have them put medicine after, it will keep you free from pain, and unable to move the lower half of your body and let it heal.

Remember to talk to your health professional about hormone therapy.. that didn't work for me, but others it can.

Again, the BEST decision ever made, I was sore, but after all the crap I went through, I was no longer in pain. And for 8 years I have not had to deal with monthly cramps, spotting, tampons (and forgetting to bring them with me), or bloating. I did gain about 10 lbs and cannot get it off, but that was a good price to pay to be pain free. The best benefit, I don't have to tell my boyfriend that it is "that time of the month", it never is!

Had one 15 yrs ago (aged 35). Best days work I've ever done, but was very poorly afterwards with an infection. It opened up a whole new life for me, as pain and extremely heavy periods were dragging me down month after month. Go for it.... it will take a bit of time, but you'll soon be up and about and feeling well. Good luck.
