Ben Gordon is the better shooter and perhaps clutch scorer, but he plays little defense and struggles to play in the team concept in Chicago. He's also undersized for a shooting guard, and doesn't share the ball enough to be a point guard. Even if he were, Chicago has two quality point guards in Kirk Hinrich and Chris Duhon already. Chicago has been trying to trade him to get a more balanced attack, but have not found many teams who would like Ben Gordon. Most teams would rather trade for Luol Deng. Shooting guards are easy to find in the NBA, and the Bulls even have a prospect of their own, Thabo Sefolosha, that they can play should Gordon get injured or traded.
Dwight Howard is a quality big that can be considered a legitamite center. There are maybe 4 legitamite centers in the entire NBA (Shaq, Yao, Eddy Curry, Dwight Howard), and when you have one of them you can definitely build a team around him. He's young, athletic, and works hard to improve his game. He's not selfish with the ball, and other players like a guy who will pass. He's already a great rebounder and tough defender, and he will only get better.
The choice is simple, Dwight Howard.

Yeah...Dwight is such a talent. Don't get me wrong, Okafor is a great player, and he will probably be an all-star sooner or later, but Dwight is much better. Head to head, Dwight absolutely destroys Okafor.

dwight howard....ben gordon can shoot all he wants, but he is lousy on defense, never gets any else good looks consistently, or crashes the boards. dwight can rebound, score, block shoots, and be the intimidator people fear.
