when your computer first boots up the mother board details are given at the top and in the BIOS string at the bottom of the screen

Failing that open up your machine and look - the make and model are printed on it

If you can't be bothered to do that download a utility such as belarc advisor and this will tell you

oh, you do not need any web site just do this.
1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. On the sidebar click Switch to classic view.
if you cannot find t hen do not worry.
4. Double-click system.
on the bottom it says it.

Search the web for "Belarc Advisor"....it's a free program that you can download....it will tell you everything you need to know about your computer...and more!

yes you will have to go to the site for the manufacturer and do some research. like with an emachines computer u have to go to the http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/ site to and input your computer type. the sites and category u have to go into will vary with each brand
