I have been asked by my company to do my MCSE, i have been working in the IT industry for about 10 years and am a IT manager/Sys admin for an international software company.

I know it may make some difference, but my argument is i already know how to do 95% of the stuff on the microsoft exams so why waste the money.
On the flip side there are so many companies that can't see further than the paper qualifications, so if you are planning on making a career move in the future, it can only help.

I have though long and hard on this one myself, and i have decided to start with the MCSA, then work up. I got the company to pay as i will be worth more to them :)

Yes - when Companies are recruiting for technical jobs they often receive 100 CV's for every vacancy.

No way are they going to interview 100 people - in fact no recruiting Manager is going to read 100 CV's ..

So HR Dept. use things like qualifications (degree, MCSE) and experience (length of time in current job) to weed out the 'no hopers' before the remaining dozen or so are sent to the Manager for futher consideration.

If you have both a Degree & MCSE and at least 5 years in your current jopb, you CV is at (or near to) the top of the pile.
