Is there a club related to your major that you can join?

Some schools definitely have a friendlier atmosphere than others, so if you are really trying and it just isn't working, then you have to decide if you can focus on your studies and get comfortable with time alone and just deal with it. Otherwise another option is to consider transferring to another school.

if your country has a student organisation you might want to join it or jin the international student org... just try and make small talk with your classmates ...and gradually know them..a friendsship will take time to form.. stay in touch with your family , old friends.. just try to take part in some activity..some sport or whtevr you like to do ..you'll see your social circumfrence is expanding.. best of luck and dont lose heart!

Spend more time at studies.

You will get used to it, its part of growing up. Even the USA residents are lonely when they go off to school. Youre not alone on this problem.

well you are not alone.. esp if you live on the West Coast or So Cal.. people here are really unfriendly, esp in Los Angeles. I think its good if you try to find other international students, or communities of people that are the same ethnicity as yourself.... if you are in so cal, dont plan on sticking around here too long. no one knows each other... and i've lived here my whole life.!

I'm not sure which school you are attending. However, I have found that smaller schools are generally more friendly.

In a larger school: I found that joining a couple of clubs that you are interested in, is where you will meet new friends!!

get out and get involved......join some groups get involved in what the university has to offer....sports team or clubs...join a gym.....get a part time job?.......take up a hobby learn something new..for fun outside of studies
