why do i keep on getting syntax error when i type e^(-2) on the calculator?? please help! i don't know how am i supposed to use e on the calculator

it depends on your calculator .. many of them require you to type -2 and then the e^x button

syntax error usually means what u plugged into the calculator doesn't make sense, maybe u typed the minus sign instead of the negative sign. You should be getting .135335283

try calculating e^2 and then do 1/x.

make sure that you are using the negative sign and not the subtraction sign because that will give you an error but e^(-2) should give you .1353352832
