Why would anyone like the yankees?

Who would root for a bunch of sellouts and mercenaries with no heart like johnny damon or a-rod, anyway. Now if the yankees had actually earned their titles, then people would respect them. It's good that the fact that the yankees haven[t won anything the past six years proves that they are just a bunch of money-grubbing imposters, because it would be a shame if they won and people thought they actually deserved it.

Jealous of what? Being a $200 million flop in the playoffs the last few years, the most expensive in sports history.

I don't root for any team, so no I'm not just some bitter red sox fan. While it's true that all pro athletes make a lot of money, what makes the yankee players despicable is how they begrudge an extra 5-10 million dollars when they are already making tens of millions every year and don't need anymore.

I will forgive you for being a fan if you live in New York, or grew up there or something, but all others just want a team that makes them feel good about themselves, and fortunately, they have not won it since 2000
Kevin J, can you really say that someone doesn't know anything if you're calling the AL East the North? last time I checked, Tampa Bay is definitely not in the North.

Well, by your comments i can only assume you know nothing of what you speak. from 1996-200 there were only 2 potential hall of famers on the yankees. Rivera and Jeter. The only free agents were paul oneal, tino martinez and scott brosius (all very inexpensive and thought well past there primes) so smart pick ups as far as anyopne who nows the game would say. More than half there satrting offense and 60% of there pitching staff were home grown talent.

Yes the yankees went nuts after that signing, but there 4 rings came fro start trades, and great draft picks. if you wanna hate on a club, than hate for the right reasons.

As far as spending money goes, they follow the same rules anyone else can choose too. There is no such thing as a poor team owner, just cheap ones. Look at the last 2 years now, what huge signing have the yankees done. NONE. all the other teams are dropping big money.

The only reason for this post is to show your lack of knowledge on a subject.

You obviously have issues beyond the stupid question that you asked. The Yankees have 26 World Championships so if you take the 4 that they recently won there'd be 22. But don't tell me they didn't deserve those 4 because they played the 162 games just like anyone else and excelled in the playoffs. No other Franchise even comes close to even 22 world Championships you moron.
Just because you get expensive players doesn't mean that the championship is a given. You still have to play the 162 games just like every one else. You obviously don't have a clue.

yankee fans are no different than any others. when any team in any sport wins , they always have a lot of people who jump on the bandwagon. the yankees are competitive every year but they havent won the series since 2000 , so why hate them for trying to win. give steinbrenner credit , he has money and spends it to try to win. some owners are richer than him but wont commit their money for the team + fans. think back to the last 4 yankee world series wins and the core of the team was jeter,williams,posada,rivera,and petitte - all from their farm system. before the 96 team , they were not great since 78. that was 18 years of being a yankee fan just for the sake of being a fan. most fans who hate the yankees hate them because their team wont do what the yanks do--they play to win

you contradict yourself when you say that the yankees are a $200 million flop when they don't win, then they don't deserve it when they do win...you are basically saying that the yankees should win every world series but don't deserve it when they do??? methinks you're just another red sox fan who can't deal with the fact that aside from 1 year in the past 90 the yankees are the better team

the yankees have to win the same number of games as everyone else did when they won it, and it has been proven by the yankees LOSING that the best players and most talent do not always win

Personally I'm a Blue Jays fan, but I don't have much against the Yankees. I know they spend a lot of money, like 200 million, and haven't won the World Series in a few years but I can understand why people would root for such a team. It is laden with superstars and power hitters and the franchise itself has a long rich history.

Wow, you think your cool because you call the yankees sell-outs and mercenaries. The yankees have more titles than any other franchise in the history of sports. And just because the yankees havent won it in the past 6 years, doesn't mean they are imposters. You dont know probably what an imposter or a mercenary is. You think your smart to, thinking you know you know their history with them not winning. Well, i got news for you, the yankees have not only made it to the playoffs EVERY YEAR SINCE 1996, but have also WON THE AL NORTH TITLE every year too. Beating the Red-sox and all the other north teams those years. Saying they dont deserve it only makes you look more like an imbicile. If ya win it, ya deserve it, so suck it.

i dont think the yankees have as many fans as everyone else thinks. besides the only reason n e one roots for them is because they win. most of the people that claim yankees fans that i kno cant even name 5 yankees. now thats sad.
most yankees fans dont fall in love with the franchise past or present. they just like them because when they win a game they can brag about and half the time they dont kno what their talkin about. the only fans stupider than them is montreal canadiens fans. but anyhoo, yankees fans claim to be the best in the world, but as i see it the chicago cubs havent won it all in almost 100 yrs and their fans still stay by them. now thos are tru fans

Wow! Somebody is a tad bit touchy!
If it is a matter of economics, take the amount that the Yankees have spent though their history and divide it up by championships. Do this wilt the other teams as well, I think you will find the economics in the favor of the Yankees and thier winning percentage based on payroll expenses

It sounds to me like you are jealous of them. That is problem only you can fix, sorry about your luck. I was born into a Yankees family, and have loved them ever sense. If I ever have kids they will be Yankee fans as well. When you have someone in your family that played for a certain team Until the war (World War II that is) you tend to be a fan for life.
