I heard Hawaii has flying cockroaches. Also, Hawaii is more of a vacation place.. not as many job opportunities. AND, it's too far away from the rest of the world.

I've been to all of the US states (except for Hawaii and Alaska and Utah) I've never lived in any state other than Cali though.
I like night life and accessible services and stores. I also can imagine that if you're living on a farm you still have to commute to a big city for work or you have a limited job supply.

This is interesting to me... I have been working in Arkansas for the past six months. I've spent time in both California and Arkansas. I see advantages to both places.
California? Great shopping and weather but houses are prohibitively expensive
Arkansas? Not near the amusement and entertainment venues, but true nature haven and very low cost of living.
I'd have to ask you--have you ever lived in Arkansas? have you tried it? Or Wisconsin?
I also have to ask you--do you eat food? (yes, you do) Where do you think that food comes from? The average Kansas farmer feeds about 100 people from their efforts. Iowa farmland is generally even more fertile and productive. And Wisconsin is pretty good at it too... among many other states.
So if we all lived in California, what would we eat?
You commented: " if you're living on a farm you still have to commute to a big city for work." Unless, of course, your job is on that farm... or in one of the local towns near that farm.
Y'see, farmers have children and they still need schools and doctors and dentists and chiropractors and gas station attendants and dry cleaning and preachers and piano teachers and barbers and ... and ... and ...
Home is generally where you are, and there are advantages to many places in the world.

Because theres a lot of other nice places around and it depends on your preferences. I like going to where theres no other person just animals on a frozen lake thats 30 miles long with my $15000 snow machine and go over 100 miles an hour. The world is immense and if you have to ask that one I suggest ten years of nonstop travel and you'll start to see for yourself. California is too hot for a lot of people, the crime and gangs in cities scares them, earthquakes and high taxes, nightmare traffic and smog in the big cities, racial tension, 30 million people+. Ive been all over it and California is a beautiful state and right about in the middle of places I'd chose to revisit. Ever seen Alaska?

Yep, anybody is leaving California. stunning we've this stupid budget disaster and the state is broke. that's what we get for voting for an actor to be our governor! What idiots. Oh properly. anybody is dropping their residences because of the fact of those undesirable loans and mendacity on the applying approximately earnings. and anybody else is dropping their pastime. they only handed a bill to boost the automobile registration fee to double what that's now. that's terrible. We pay taxes, government spends money on stupid stuff and we pay extra taxes. i presumed the entire clarification why we grew to alter into our very own self reliant united states of america grew to become into to get removed from taxes interior the 1st place. Oh properly........

I would not live in California, ever.
Okay, "maybe" the extreme north, but then I might as well live in beautiful Oregon, so I would.
You know, California is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Of course, I also like rural, natural, green and lush, and not a lot of people around, which is much of what is behind my opinion.

Some people like other types of weather. Different mentalities as well. Different scenes. Etc.
I'm French, and couldn't live in the North of France as it's too cold and rainy for me. But I've got an uncle who lives in Brittanny, and he couldn't live anywhere else. He just likes the culture, the athmosphere (he is from the South of France, by the way; even lived in Tahiti!).
