Do you care?
What can be done to stop the FBI abusing power?
What WILL be done?
If someone tries to do something, will the Republicans spear-head them as being anti-American and in favor of the terrorists, as crippling the FBI's ability to investigate?

I assumed that this story was common knowledge to people that follow politics. Here's a story.

"we believe the improper or illegal uses we found involve serious misuses of national security letter authorities," the audit concludes.
From the link above

Bipartisan outrage erupted on Friday on Capitol Hill as Robert S. Mueller III, the F.B.I. director, conceded that the bureau had improperly used the USA Patriot Act to obtain information about people and businesses.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/10/washington/10fbi.html
The report found many instances when national security letters, which allow the bureau to obtain records from telephone companies, Internet service providers, banks, credit companies and other businesses without a judge’s approval, were improperly, and sometimes illegally, used.

If you need to see this link--your definitely not paying attention to the endless lack of governance from the TOP ON DOWN. Our Government is not supposed to investigate it's citizenry's personal information unless there is proven probable cause and they obtain a warrant. Along comes Bush and the unnecessary Patriot Act and boom--that's all out the window. Instead of using it for it's intended purpose, Bush and our intelligence agencies have perverted it into a lawless set of Gestapo tactics.

How can they botch simple data management? And just how much of that data was lost on purpose to prevent evidence of their misdeeds from being discovered?

Stay tuned.

This isn't a democratic or republican issue. In the 60's when J. Edgar Hoover was head of the FBI they did the same thing. The FBI was a thorn in Kennedy's side. It is the FBI themselves abusing the power they have.

Of course they will! That is all they know how to do is attack anyone who does not agree with their Master-GW Bush. It is easy to see why so many people have the mindset they do though. Take a look at Rupert Murdock, the owner and fine republican hotshot who backs everything this administration wants to release as news and buries the stories that do not. He owns multiple cable channels, networks, magazines, newspapers, a movie studio and radio stations bringing the total amount of viewing audience to 4.7 billion people or to put that in perspective 3/4 of the population. All falling susceptible to the views and beliefs and recognized propaganda of one man and one administration. We have our work cut out for us that is for sure. Keep at it!

Let them tune in they have my full information anyhow on my taxes I pay every year and yours too if you pay taxes!

The FBI was given the power to abuse by Bush's so called Patriot act.

There is nothing patriotic about that act. The gov't is reckless, and out of control.

If they were using the Patriot Act, it wasn't illegal. The Patriot Act is a LAW!

Why are you opposed to us gathering information about ist's plans? How do you think we are going to stop ist acts before they happen?

Would you believe me if I told you that there was just as much illegally gained information by the Fed BEFORE the Patriot Act?

Would you believe me if I told you that the Patriot Act is the means by which we are able to REIGN IN Federal intrusion?

Just promise to seriously consider what I just said. Thanks.
