An important thing to keep in mind of course, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates + http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
The way I have mine set is to only notify me that updates are availiable, but to not download them automaticaly. Then I can check to be sure I get just the ones I want. I then click on "custom", and after the updates have been downloaded I look them over to see which ones I want, then disconnect from the net, disable firewall and anti-virus program, and then install the updates, and then re-enable the firewall and anti-virus programs before reconnecting to the net.

Does not exist. You can sign for a free trial via the site or CNET, however you pay in any case. Want protection go back to the CNET.com site and look for free downloads. Search for AVG and/AntiVir. They are free and frankly work quite well. Good Luck.

That will be the worse day of your life. Mcafee is hard to configure, and will block programs that you use everyday. i suggest using the built in firewall that came with your system. It is best to just download peer guardian and use that with built in firewall for free protection.
good luck

I think you'll have better success with looking for legally free programs... it's better for your karma if nothing else.
Anti-virus:
AVG - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free
ClamWin - http://www.clamwin.com/
Anti-spyware:
Ad-aware - http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html
Firewall:
Zonealarm - http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
I like the combo of Clamwin, Spybot S&D and Zonealarm.
Oh, and please (for the love of... your computer) use Firefox:
