Do you tend to like animes that share certain characteristics or are in the same genre?
For me, my specialty is cute creatures and magical powers, so almost any magical girl show is fair game. (I've only been turned off by two such series so far)

BL is a turn on for me.
Sukisyo, Gravitation, Ai no Kusabi...
Even stuff like Weiss Kreuz is good.
I'm turned off by kiddy animes or the waffy kind such as "You love me-I love you-let's go have lovey lovey time". Or het romance. I like complications and struggles.

I mostly only watch anime that will make me think. As in there is some deep inner meaningful message filled with deepness and meaningfullness.
From that description you can probably guess why ^^
But seriously, any anime that has characters that have a plausible in depth background is fair game for me. I prefer character-driven rather than plot-driven animes

I like anime about ninja, souls, magic, samurai, demons, & death.
Like inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Naruto, Salior Moon, and bleach.

I like animes with action and adventure, if they are funny too, that's grate. I used to like magical girls too, I was a big sailor moon fan, but now I get bored by that.

Slice of Life animes, ones with drama, action and adventure is always great but monotonous without some form of drama.

It doesn't matter for me I have watched a lot of anime and there is not one that I absolutely hate yet.
