Medical Schools dont teach Oncology. The specialty is an "on the job" training after medical school at a Hospital that is attached to a University program.

First one gets their Medical Degree. Then you get a residency in Internal Medicine, that takes 3 years. Then you get a "specialty in Oncology" that takes another 2 1/2 years at an institution that specializes in that particular field.

Oncologist , doesnt do surgery either, that is another specialty that goes like this. First Med School, then General Surgery or OBBYN for 4 years Residency, then specialty in a particular field of surgery, could be Gynecological Surgery, or Thorasic surgery, thats another 6 years of training.
