I am an American student who will be traveling to Santander in July to study Spanish. I don't want to stand out too much or wear something considered inappropriate, but I want to dress fashionably.

Dont look like a typical american student. IE no 99 cent flipflops, no baggy pants or sweatshirts.
Most girls wear skirts and dresses or well fitted clothing. Remember that its the Mediterranean country and its common for boys to check you out and give "cat-calls"
Also their clothing is usually brighter colors then the typical American's. Girls there also were heels more than americans do. Its going to be
