Hi, I'm 4 weeks and one day pregnant. last night i had noticed that my left nostril was swelling. It is painful to tough. Every morning I am very congested. Is the swelling due to the pregnancy or something else? Is there a technical term for it? Has anyone else experienced it? Thanks!

Hormone changes can increase allergic sensitivity especially when pregnant. Try a saline solution like ocean to ease the pain and swelling with no side effects to you or the baby. You should also consider switching your laundry detergent to a dye and fragrance free type - this will reduce some of the irritants. Use a swifter type duster to dust around your bed and any frames in your room as well as on the floor and under the bed to eliminate dust - if you have carpet use a hepa filter vacuum and vacuum thoroughly have someone help you get under the bed if you are uncomfortable in that position - no need to stress your body. Also consider if any foods are offensive right now and avoid them. By taking simple steps to clear and reduce allergens as well as using a sinus cleaner like Ocean you should feel better in no time. Good Luck!

It could be allergies. Check with your obgyn doc. There are only certain meds you can take while you are pregnant. Better to be safe than sorry.
