I know about the fuel filter on top, but is there not another under the driver's side somewhere and how do you change it. Could it be something else??? The truck ran fine until i shut it off last night.

There are TWO fuel filters on that particular truck. The secondary fuel filter sits at the top, beside the oil filter. Use a 1/2" drive ratchet to remove. Using a 36mm socket with a flexible u-joint adapter and long extension and 1/2" drive ractchet, CAREFULLY remove the cap on the HFCM (horizontal fuel conditioning module) under the driver side frame rail, to access the primary fuel filter. This will be more difficult to access if this truck is a 4X4. When replacing this filter, take care to ensure the cap is replaced ALL THE WAY, or else the truck will start and run, until it runs out of fuel. Go to your local Ford dealer parts department, and ask for part number FD-4604 (which includes BOTH fuel filters). Something you may want to purchase as well, if want to get into the good habit of draining the HFCM every oil change, is a drain plug (part number 6E7Z-9C082-A) that will fit the bottom of yours, but make it easier to access, since it replaces the 6mm allen head drain plug with a big "knob" style drain plug, to facilitate access. Before you ask how to replace the air filter, the easiet way to do this, is to disconnect the hose from the coolant overflow bottle to the radiator AT THE BOTTLE. Remove the airflow restriction meter from the air filter housing. Unplug the mass airflow sensor connector (yours is an '05 so it won't have one). Loosen the 8mm (5/16") hose clamp, and disconnect the air inlet hose from the air cleaner housing. DO NOT release the air filter clamps. Remove housing with air filter from truck by pulling assembly UPWARD with one hard yank. Once removed from vehicle, replace with new air filter (ford part number FA-1778) and re-install assembly. Hope this helps. If you want more useful info, visit www.forddoctorsdts.com. You'll find a lot of interesting articles on that website.

How do you know that you are not getting any fuel? Generally, you will see a decline in performance if it is the filter or sock(in the fuel tank). How many miles are on it? I really think that you may have something preventing fuel from being injected. Maybe a safety feature or something. On a modern vehicle if you pump the gas it will shut off the injectors. Make sure that the transmission is in park or neutral, the park/neutral safety switch will cause the engine not to crank. Is the engine trying to crank or just nothing?

The most common cause is the fuel pump conveniently located within the tank. The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel. A low fuel level causes the fuel pump to overheat & fail. May have to drop the tank & replace the pump. The pumps are quite expensive.
