Where is 'caer' and what is a farter... did you never hear of a spell check...
Would never ban mothers day as I see the pleasure it gives her, same with fathers day, its our chance to say thank you for all the love, care, sacrifices and English, Grammar and spelling lessons....

No we shouldn't ban Mothers day at all, I lost my mom 8 years ago and its still hard seeing people buy cards and gifts for their mom but there is absolutely no way I would want it banned because I no longer have my mom around, that would be both selfish and single minded, I buy a bunch of flowers every mothers day and place them at the side of my moms photograph, I can't hug her or kiss her but I can let her know I love her still and always will.

no we shouldn't ban mothers day as even if a child hasn't a mother there will be some sort of mother figure in there life - grandmother or aunt.
what about the feelings of the children with mothers don't they count.
I miss the hand made cards and pressies my kids made when they were young and I have kept them all .
Thet now buy their cards and pressies but its not the same somehow as a handmade card is so personal and origianal

There comes a time when we all lose our Mother's, so it is a good opportunity for those of us fortunate enough to still have them in our lives to show how much we love and appreciate them. The same goes for Fathers Day.

You seriously need to learn English. My dad is dead but I wouldn't want that banned, yeh its upsetting the first one or two but you just get on with it, it shouldn't be banned. Otherwise some parents would get no thanks!x

Of course we should. And ban fathers day too because of the kids with no fathers, and christmas because of the people who arent christian, and all the muslim, chinese, buddhist etc festivals because we arent all muslim, chinese, buddhist etc.
And all the other christian festivals, and the hippy stuff like solstices and so on. And while were at it lets not bother with birthdays - bound to upset someone with noone to send them a card. Well all be miserable bastards together

my parents know i appreciate them without having a whole day dedicated to them, i show them all year round not just on one particular day, now i think it has moved more from the sentiment to the money all the companies are getting from selling mothers/fathers day crap.
I tend to take my parents out on random weekends to surprise them instead of relying on a certain day of the year!

Yes, ban it and Father's day, it's just a money spinner for people who make greetings cards.

I am with annie just above me. There is no need to ban special days because some can't partcipate. If we tried that, soon there would be no special days for anything.
