you can save your self tons of money by doing a pro se divorce which pretty much means so it yourself. Its pretty easy look into the legal website for California and there will be a simulation divorce papers and a final divorce decree. Fill in your info on the first one, file it, costs about 100 bucks then you personally have to make an appointment with the family court . the court date had to be at least 60 days after you file. then on the day of court have your final divorce decree and the judge will grant you a divorce as long as the other person doesn't dispute it. I did mine super easy and I saved over 1000 dollars for some one else to fill in the blanks. Uncontested

Whoa! What's the rush? One of you has found another "soul-mate"???? It seems you must have rushed into one marriage (and now you want a divorce because you made a mistake). Don't rush into another. Let the divorce go slowly and take this time to find out who you are and what you really want. Maybe the next time your marriage will be worth working on.

Not that I know of. It took 7 1/2 months for mine because we have a 6 week waiting period(in case you change your mind) before they will even file the papers. Then it's 6 months after that before it's final.

If there are no martial assets and no custody issues, you should file for a dissolution. A dissolution is legal separation in which all parties agree.

There are packets that you can purchase at drug stores that enable you to do the paperwork yourself. The only costs are for the court filing fees (which vary by county and state).

Good Luck!

Divorce laws are different in different states..
There is no such thing as an "American 6 month process"..
There are no Federal / national laws governing divorce.
You should be able to easily get divorced in less than a month
or two at most...

you're subject to the laws of the state you live in. Unless you move to a state where it can happen faster, not much you can do.

In Texas, the waiting period is only about 60 days. I'm counting them now, lol!
