where did the idea for the book come from? how long did the book take to write? where was it first published? who bought the film rights? jesus, use your brain!

The best one would be did Hunter S. Thompson really view Las Vegas that way or was it overdone for the movie.
I know he was tripping, but I have wondered if the movie makers did justice to his trip...
Since he is passed on now, who knows if it was true to the voyage.
