It really depends on the person.
But somethings to try out are:
Running or other exercise thing (it releases endorphins, and will also help tire you out)
Taking a long walk and maybe even adding some music to it.
You might want to beat some INANIMATE object (that is NOT breakable).
A wonderful method is just sitting down with someone or do it while walking with that person, about all this.
Or maybe just YELLING it all out!
Methods I do NOT suggest are...
just eating...
watching tv...
sleeping...

You cannot usefully take out your anger like you might take the dog out, but you can learn not to be angry.
This is not easy.
You are angry because someone attacked your sense of identity, survival as a person, when you were a child and anger (screaming, struggling and generally going crazy) was all you could do. That's how you learned to respond and even now when you feel you are "attacked," and it may not take much at all, your body automatically remembers this and wants to repeat the craziness.
You don't say what makes you angry but let's assume it is a person or their actions. This instant body-response is so strong that you don't notice the person is just doing their own thing. Generally, unless you have provoked someone, their actions are not directed towards you and you don't have to take them personally.
Don't take things personally and then you will not have anger. When you find yourself feeling angry, remind yourself that you are really OK. Quit worrying about what the other person did or said, remind yourself how well you are doing and what you have accomplished.
Of course, if you're angry with yourself, that's another matter. You're human like the rest of us and scr . . up from time to time. If you are expecting too much of yourself because there's a voice from your past or in your present, demanding you be perfect, quit listening. Those who demand perfection from others do so because they are angry that they have not achieved perfection themselves.
You have some important lessons to learn. If you don't want to go to classes, find a group or do some reading. Asking this question is a good start.

Go out in the woods and kick a tree. Hit it
kick it, pull the limbs off it or any thing you
want to do. Of course I would start on a
small tree if I were you.
The reason I say this is, I saw a bear on TV
once that was mad and he did the same thing.
He tore a sapling all to pieces but he did'nt
hurt not one soul.

The safe way to take it out without being offensive is to stay cool, march towards a private place where you think nobody can see or hear you.On settling there do whatever you feel.Yell your heart out.Just spill out all those negative feelings and thoughts of anger.Dont count time.It really doesnt matter how long will it take to relieve yourself from rage.Take your own time. You can get down to work when you feel better. It worked for me.
