He destroyed it because he wanted to prove his worth by killing them all. Itachi revealed he purposely played the part of the loving older brother as a way to test Sasuke's potential. Itachi also confirmed the truth of the suspicions that he had murdered Shisui in order to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan, for which killing one's best friend is a requirement. He then departs, telling Sasuke that he wasn't "worth killing" and that if he wants to kill him he must spend his life hating him and acquire the Mangekyo Sharingan. Also in the episode they showed last week Sasuke thought that Itachi only left Sasuke as a surviver because if he had killed Sasuke too then Itachi would've comitted something for killing a whole clan... Something like that...

The same reason that Sasuke tie to kill naruto!
It was for power the power that Itachi got from killing his clan
was great and to git that power he had to kill his best friend and Itachi did that and sasuke tied to but he failed.
And I spouse that Itachi killed all the clan so he cud leave the villa without feeling sad that he Left his clan be-hied and I'm shore that for killing them he got more powerful.

After the suicide of his best friend Shisui,Itaci seeing this happen was devastated by that A few minutes later 3 of his own clan members approached him questioning the accident,he was blamed for this.A day or two later he became so mad he wanted to test his strength on the clan.

Because only the Uchihas had the sharingan, so only they could be his rivals. Itachi was the strongest of them all and he wanted a challenge. That is the reason why he didn't kill Sasuke. He knew that one day Sasuke will be as strong as him and they will be rivals.

becuz he thought the clan was doing worthless things and he states the uchiha should show thier true power.he also had another reason to kill them: get the mangekou sharingan becuz that is one of the uchihas great power to kill his/her best friends to obtain it.3rd reason: he got caught by his familey killing his best friend so if no1 noticed itachi jus killed them.
