yesterday we went to the airport b/c my grandma was going back to india...and my dad went inside with her cuz she can't speak english..when they went throught the little detector thing...it didn't buzz...but they still checked my dad and grandma very carefully...at least 20 ppl went by in the other line and they were still checking my dad...then i was thinking if this had to do anything with 9/11...i mean just b/c we're from a foriegn country doesn't mean we're terroists....i think everyone in the U.S. should get the same exact treatment...but some how i get the feeling that what i saw yesterday was racism..does anyone think the same?

You're playing the 'race-card' hun.
If it were white folks that were getting stopped & checked, would you be crying 'racist' then? Thought not..
Since the 911 thing, it's the same the world over, so don't take it personally.
Here in the UK everyone is searched, EXCEPT for the women wearing the hibjabs, as the authorities are afraid of upsetting these 'minority' groups.
Now THAT'S what I call racist!..

No, just cause your dad got checked doesn't mean that their racists. I know they check a certain amount of people for every flight, and maybe your dad was the number person that they checked. Don't let it bother you though, I get searched EVERYTIME, just about everywhere and I fly around the world on a regular basis.

It may not be intended particularly to offend your father but post 9/11, Americans have undeniably become wary of Asians. But whatever the reasons, it still qualifies as a racist act.

Well as long as they didn't verbally or physically hurt your dad, i believe they were just taking an 'over excess' amount of percaution. I hate the airport precaustion too, just so you know. I do feel for you and your family, it must be hard to have to deal with remarks or stares from people because of 9/11. but I dont think it was racist, unless they rudely searched your famliy.
