Here's the way to think about this - You just have to translate the prefix...
Centi means 1x10^-2 (Hundredths)
Micro means 1x10^-6...(Millionths)

So...Centigrams are 10,000x bigger than Micrograms (1x10^-2/1x10^-6 = 10^4 or 10,000).

Here's where it gets tricky - Since Centigrams are BIGGER than Micrograms, we're going to have FEWER of them if we're starting from Micrograms (just like we'd have MORE Micrograms if we started from Centigrams)...The way to set the problem up is to put the one you're starting from on top and divide by a single one of the ones you're converting TO...Like so:

3700 * 1x10^-6 / 1*10^-2 (3700 Micrograms/1 Centigram) = .37 Centigrams

See how that works?

If we wanted to go the other way, we'd still divide, but since we've got the bigger one on top, we'd get MORE...So, if it were 3700 centigrams and we wanted to know how many micrograms, we could do it like this: 3700x10^-2/1x10-6 = 37000000! That's a lot of micrograms! :-) So be glad we were'nt doing it this way. LOL

Hope this helps!
