Probably the best way to get into medical school would be to get accepted into a BS/MD program. Most universities and colleges with medical schools have a BS/MD program. You do 3 years of undergrad and then 4 years of med school. If your grades and SAT are good enough coming out of high school you probably won't have a problem getting in .
As for the best med school on the east coast it depends on what you are interested in. Most of the 'elite' schools are known for research, but if you are more interested in the clinical aspects of medicine these school that are all about research probably would not be the best fit for you.

John Hopkins is the Holy Grail for med students.
I had checked into Tulane for Pre-Med and Med School and found that the Tulane's med school had a high number of people that attended Tulane University, Obvious I know.
What I mean is that is you wish to go to Hopkins, I would, then it might make it easier fo you to attend Hopkins for Pre-Med.
Just my thought. Also check out the Ivy's.

Find a good medical school and call them to find out what courses they require you to take before getting into med school. That's all I can tell you.
